Zensori — an interoception trainer
An interoception trainer, built by neurodivergent people, for neurodivergent people. It teaches you to read your own nervous system.
The eighth sense
The world assumes everyone processes stress and sensory input the same way. Our neurology is different: our brains don't automatically filter out the noise, so we carry heavy tension, push through, and usually notice the drain only when we are already empty.
Interoception is the eighth sense — your brain's ability to perceive what your body is doing. It is what tells you your jaw is clenched, your heart is racing, your energy is spent. For many neurodivergent people it is muted: a persistent gap between what the body experiences and what the mind can name.
Zensori exists to close that gap.
The corridor — where you are
Every nervous system has a window of tolerance: the range where you can function, process, and choose how to respond. Sensory sensitivity, the cost of masking, and frequent stress often make that window narrower than average. Zensori calls it the corridor and tracks your activation from −10 to +10.
Above the corridor is fight-or-flight; below it, shutdown. The number passes no judgement — it is simply a location reading: where is your nervous system, right now?
The reservoir — what you have left
The reservoir is your remaining capacity, from 0 to 100%. Major events are not the only things that drain it: a five-minute errand in harsh light costs capacity. An hour of masking costs capacity. Time spent outside your corridor costs capacity.
These micro-drains run below the level you would usually notice — until the tank is suddenly empty. The reservoir makes the cumulative drain visible.
The practice
A check-in is a brief moment of structured attention to your body: where you are, what you have left, and what contributed. It takes well under a minute — guided prompts while you are learning to feel the answer, direct logging once you can.
At first, track everything. The demanding morning. The fluorescent lights. The bracing before a day of masking. Logged across a few days, these small entries reveal the invisible weight you carry. As you learn your patterns, the practice gets lighter.
Taking back your agency
Every check-in becomes part of your trend line, and the trend translates into agency:
- Anticipate what a demanding environment will cost — before you enter it.
- Plan sensory-safe timeouts before the reservoir reaches zero.
- Say no, backed by the reality of what a yes would cost.
You respond to your life instead of reacting to overwhelm.
Zensori is not designed to make you dependent on it. It is built to train your interoception so well that one day you will not need to open the app at all — you will simply know where your body is, what it has spent, and what it needs.
